2011 BSc Entry Cancelled for Audiology - at Some UK Universities
Some BSc Audiology Courses have been Cancelled for 2011 Entry in the UK. This includes the courses at Bristol and Aston. The news currently given on the front page of the Bristol University's Audiology Department reads as follows:
BSc Audiology 2011 - The BSc Audiology will no longer be recruited to for 2011 and was removed from UCAS at the end of October. We regret that a new location was not found for the 2011 cohort next year and a final intake has not been possible.
In addition Aston also seem to have cancelled. They have not given news of this on there website at present, however if telephoned by prospective students they then reveal this news (see further discussions on the Student Room website by prospective students).

Hello
Here at UCL we've just been given the go- ahead to recruit new students to start the BSc in audiology in September 2011. This is the last time the 'old' 4- year BSc will run. Becasue of the lateness of this decision, our course wasn't put into the UCL prospectus so we are relying on word- of- mouth for publicity. Please pass this information on to anyone who enquires about training. It feels important to spread the word as this is the very last chance people will have to train via the 4 year, dedicated degree course BAA members worked so hard to create.
thanks

Update - Aston will be taking 2011 entries
Just a quick update. We have been informed by the admissions tutor at Aston University (BSc in Audiology and Foundation Degree Hearing Aid programmes) that Aston will be taking 2011 BSc Audiology entries.
He stated that there was a short period where there was uncertainty as to whether Aston would be running the BSc Audiology course for new entrants in 2011 or it's Modernising Scientific Careers Replacement and during this time the programme had been removed University and UCAS web-site and enquirers were informed that BSc Audiology would not be running for 2011 entry. In addition as this period also coincided with the University 2011 prospectus being finalised it also ended up being removed from the printed prospectus as well. Once the course was confirmed it was then put back on the UCAS and University websites.
With regards to the course continuing to be funded (i.e. student fees paid for), he stated, "the course has been funded historically from the Strategic Health Authority and this is anticipated to continue, at least in part."
