    FastForward for children with APD

I just wondered if anyone, particularly in the UK, has had any experience with using the FastForward training package for children with APD? What's your opinion of it and has it been useful? For others that are interested, further information can be found at http://www.scilearn.com/products/index.php

    Many thanks

    Fast Forward

I heard about the Fast Forward package while reading Norman Doidge's book The Brain that Changes Itself which contains lots of testimony and discussion of neural plasticity.

From what was discussed of it there it sounds worthwhile investigating further.

According to Scientific Learning these two companies are reps in the UK:

That's as far as I've got! I haven't finished the book yet.

    hi

in this month's issue of ENT news there is an APD focus, with some interesting articles in.

In particular there is a review by Stuart Rosen at UCL which looks at the literature and is quite critical about some of the claims by Paula Tallal and the FastForword training. FastForword has always been a fairly hotly debated training scheme in the academic community, with a number of studies showing the same benefit in children who receive any remedial one-to-one additional help, not just those with intensive auditory training such as fast forword. Have a look at the references in the review if you want to look them up

    hope that helps
