What test batteries do you use when testing children suspected with CAPD?
Remember reading about the development of an APD test battery by an organization - AAA maybe BSA but lost that article. Anyone knows of an official guideline for CAPD tests?
Hi there
there are loads of tests out there!! But I don't know if any of them are official guidelines .....
we use the LISN test with our APD adults, and are experimenting with using some of the IMAP stuff with the children (http://www.ihr.mrc.ac.uk/research/apd.php)
one good place with lots of info on is the BSA APD working group, so maybe the article you are looking for could be there???

good luck!

In the states, i think CAPD testing serves only to take money from concerned parents and boost the ego of private practice audiologists.
What is the real value of diagnosing an auditory processing deficit to which there are NO evidence-base treatments (e.g., left-ear deficit)? Neither dichotic listening training nor Fast Forword have enough evidence behind to make me feel confident about making parents shell out a bunch of money for the above treatments. I think the one bright spot is the LISN test developed by NAL. It will be available soon by Phonak in the US, however, the price tag will be hefty (~$1000 US). This includes the software, headphones, and a sound card. At least this test will let you verify a functional difficulty in which you can feel confident about recommending an FM system. In this case, it doesnt matter if the kid has cognitive or language processing issues because he/she still has difficulty listening in noise thus the FM should still yield benefit. That's just my two cents though.
