    Audiologists suffering audiology problems

    Hi All

I am currently suffering from what I think is Vestibular neuritis. I have seen Doctors and was given medication to relieve to symptoms of vomiting and feeling sick but the dizzness is still there. This happend right after a bout of common cold. No HL, trama or positional vertigo. Does anyone know how long this will last as the the dizzness is becoming really annoying to deal with?

Out of curiosity how many other have suffered from audiological problems, apart from presbycusis in this forum?

Over the years I've had various epoisodes of tinnitus, transient noise induced loss (following gigs), diplaclusis, acute EAM infections and MEE, and currently a unilateral conductive loss. As well as some age related HL of course!

Yep! I have a perforated TM on the Lt and a conductive loss to go with the perf. I've had grommets and a tympanoplasty (which was obviously unsuccessful).
    Our ATO has BAHAs.

Its been said that with VN it can last up to a week with the symptoms, the first few days are the worst with the symptoms and then the following days usually the symptoms are brought on from say looking around quickly. But to fully recover it can take up to 4-6 months specially if you have re occurances.

    Hi

I have near normal hearing but constant tinnitus which appears to be 'normal' ie worse when stressed tired or hungover. It's activity does increase after experiencing loud noise levels then eventually calms down. I can also experience reduced speech perception in background which I contribute to the tinnitus.

Had a bad scare when my collegue said I had unilateral moderate SNHL on my left ear. The emotions and so on. Then I tried to swap Left to Right, the "hearing loss" also swapped ears. Felt the huge relief with the finding of the truth.

Have had "auditory halucination" once. It was terrible. Was tired and could not sleep because there was this band playing in my ear. There was no one around, checked the neighbourhood to make sure there was no band playing. The tune was really loud. Can assure you it was no ordinary tinnitus. You cannot block out the sound.

Now if only I could remember the tune, maybe it would be a top hit

I get terrible hyperacusis which is worse when I am stressed. I don't get tinnitus much however. I don't listen to loud music etc so just put this down to stress and tiredness
