music, noise, love, hatred and damage
Dear everybody,
It is generally accepted that "one person's music could be another person's noise". Does this psychological aspect matter when it comes to the damage done to the hearing? For instance, if one loves rock music and another hates, is the possible damage to hearing affected by love or hatred?
Thanks.

I wouldn't have thought so, as under most circumstances the sound would have to be loud enough to cause actual damage, with either single or repeat exposure. However I stand to be corrected if someone does a study. I suppose annoyance would be the main factor rather than actual damage due to the perceived noise.

How about attention? If a person is in a very noisy environment and not attending to the noise? If the person is thoroughly engaged in some other work and not even taking the noise as an annoyance?
