why have the BSc then?

We had this exact debate at uni about where we stand once we qualify as BSc graduates? As it looks increasingly like the DoH want more Band 4 doing the bulk of the work http://theloop.netplan.co.uk/~admin9...147&Itemid=138

I wouldnt be suprised if you see many band 4s taken on by the commerical sector to provide a basic adult audiology service on the High street. Commsioners are increasingly want services closer to home, but it seems to be driven by cost.....

From what I heard, the Band 4s are going to do the fittings, repairs and other adult rehab work.
The band 5s are suppose to start trainning to do the advanced stuff, such as ABRs, OAE, Balance, paeds etc with the Higher Training Scheme.
However the impression I got from some departments is that they are reserving the HTS places for the M.Sc. people first and only the B.Sc if they have the money, time and space.
I just think the B.Sc/Diploma has been left in the middle of nowhere, a little overly qualified for the basic work and not quite good enough for the advanced stuff.

In the department where I work the band 4's do adult rehab lists only!! Whereas Band 5's can do more diagnositc work like ENT, or get training and specalise in things like paeds, vestib, tinnitus counseling.. etc.
I heard initally though that the band 4's were going to do things like cover ENT clinics. But I'm not sure how accurate that is???
