Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and your service provider being informed). All registered users / members are expected to follow the forum rules when posting on the site. The IP address of all posts is recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit. Any posts you have written on the site may remain even if you subsequently are no longer on the site for any reason. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent the webmaster, administrator and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.

Privacy & Cookies

The forum system within this website uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any personal information you have entered anywhere on the website and they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure and to allow the website to function properly. Read more about cookies. In addition their may be some third party advertising visible on select pages within the website, for example Google Ads, which also employ their own cookies externally to this website. You may read more about Google's privacy policy and the cookies they employ here.

The e-mail address you provide will not be passed on to third parties. The email is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget your current one). It is also used to send you information on replies to things you have written on the forum. Occasionally (but not often) the board may do a mass e-mail to members. These will generally be important issues with regards to the board running.

Most other general details collected at registration and profile updating is mainly used to determine your local connections to the Audiology profession and your entitlement to join this site and also to deter and weed out spammers and other dodgy people who wish to join the site. This is done in order to protect the privacy of existing forum members.

Passwords are not available to either the staff or moderators, please do not ask them to retrieve a password, they can't. See "I forgot my password" faq.

Board Content

While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence will not be held liable. Even though the information in the forum and website is meant for professionals, others will be browsing. Based on this, it is strongly advised that any matter be further researched and a professional consulted, such as your GP, family physician, or audiology specialist. This advice is equally valid for any professionals or others working / studying in audiology. Nothing read should ever be taken as gospel and should be subject to further research and scrutiny as necessary.

Advertising Policy

This website currently contains some advertising which is visible on selected areas of the website. This is a fixed part of this website which you are required to view if you access the content on this site. We would consider it inappropriate for you to attempt to block or remove these ads from your viewing on your browser. Currently some random Goggle advertising is shown on this website but as this doesn't cover even a small fraction of our running costs and is not always relevant to the audiology community we are also looking at employing direct display advertising on this site from relevant businesses and organisations connected to Audiology. Please note this is an independent / private website which is not funded in any way by local councils, government, institutions, organisations or any other public bodies and which is run by just a few at much of their own time and expense. Read more about advertising on this website.

External Links

We are not responsible for the content or functionality of external websites.

We do not allow 'cross posting' where a user posts the same text in more than one forum. This wastes resources, as forum users have to read posts twice. It is possible for a post to be relevant to more than one forum, but you should only post it in another if you have no success in the first.

Proprietary and Illegal Content

You may not post proprietary content or links to sites, which distribute or promote the distribution of illegal material or otherwise encourage breaking the law.

Multiple Identities

This is a no-no. If you have something to say then say so under your original id (username). Those with multiple forum id's will find themselves banned. Only one forum account is permitted per person. In addition the account may only be accessed by one person and can not be used by a group (more than one individual).

User Bans & Removals

Any registered users of the site that have been banned or removed from the site for any reason may not then rejoin the site under the same or another username unless they have had express permission to do so. Posts of such users may remain on the forum in some cases, particularly where other forum members have replied to the posts and removing them will mean that the forum threads will not make sense.

Posting Personal Details

You may not post home addresses, personal phone numbers, mobile phone numbers, e-mail addresses or other personal information about a company's officers or employees even if this information is in the public domain elsewhere (e.g. the whois database). This also applies to individuals, including patient details.

Should you have cause to raise a complaint about something to do with the board then please contact the forum admin via the forum private messaging system, detailing the issue and providing links to any posts relevant to your complaint. We will endeavour to answer your complaint in the shortest time possible.

Contacting Staff or Moderators

Staff and Moderators can be contacted by preferably by the forum's private message (PM) service. Please DO NOT contact Staff or Moderators for individual help at the first instant; try the relevant discussion group first.
